Hemp-Seed Butter

This is new to me and maybe to you as well.  I was reading one of my favorite fitness magazines and saw a little excerpt about hemp-seed butter.  I had never heard of it until reading about it but apparently, this stuff is really good for you.

Yes, hemp is related to the marijuana plant but no worries, it doesn't share any of the psychoactive compounds.  The psychoactive ingredient in marijuana is a chemical called THC and the amount of THC in hemp oil is so small it is really insignificant.

The Benefits of Hemp-Seed Oil and Butter

When ground into butter, the hemp seed is an excellent source of protein and Omega-3's.  Hemp seeds contain the highest percentage of Essential Fatty Acids in the entire plant kingdom.  They also have a high fiber content and contain vitamins E and C.  Hemp oil is known to help relieve symptoms of eczema and arthritis.

As far as taste goes, I've read that it is equivalant to pine nuts and cashews.  Sounds like it will taste good with most health foods.  You could probably try spreading it on your toast or mixing it in with yogurt.  I have yet to come across hemp-seed butter but if I catch it in a health food store, I'll give it a try.

Hello.

I’ve just read through the past 10 blog posts of yours.

Can i make one suggestion for you? Cite more. Cite your sources. Health is great but many people say something but don’t back it with a firm/solid citation. I’m creating a bunch of health tips and will be blogging about some great things you wrote but I will put an extra disclaimer because there are no sources cited. There are some but not a lot.

I don’t know much about health but I do know one thing, people make up a lot of bs, especially when it comes to health.

I think you provide tremendous value to those trying to learn more about health, the natural way.

It’s just one simple suggestion, cite your awesome advice. :)

Myself and my daughter have allergies to peanuts and tree nuts, as well as corn. I also have an allergy to soy and sunflower so Hemp Nut Butter has been a joy for us. I love it with jelly, and if you can get past the idea that it is green (they color not just the idea of it) then you’ll love it! And hemp food is the highest source of easily digestible essential fatty acids in the plant kingdom. Also the Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seed Nut Butter (it’s in the cold section at the market) is one of nature’s richest sources of complete protein (35%), Omega 6 & Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids (40%) and is a source of GLA (1%). Just go give it a try and enjoy.

Thanks for all your post. I find this site very resourceful, especially reading people’s comments. Please continue to post more. I’ve just discovered your post about a few weeks ago and already passed it on to some of my friends. Since then, I decided to give acai juice a try and now I will be looking for hemp butter. Thanks again!
